About

Denys Shortt is a UK based collector of Land Rovers - particularly Defenders. This website has been created to commemorate the history of this wonderful vehicle.

It started in 1948 with the Series 1 Land Rover which 68 years later ended production as the Defender. The vehicle was largely hand built opposed to the use of robots that are used in modern day car manufacturing.

The first Series 1 was built in 1948 and had the registration of HUE 166.

The very last Defender was a copy of this and was registration H166 HUE built 68 years later and after over 2 million vehicles produced!

Both of these vehicles are located at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire,  United Kingdom.

The very last one was produced on 29th January 2016.
